Top 10 Stars That Created an NFT Collection

Publish Date: 28/03/2023

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) at first seemed ludicrous, as no one could wrap their heads around the concept of trading crypto art. However, this innovative concept soon proved naysayers wrong with its capability to protect art and improve creator appreciation. In no time, NFT artworks worth more than $60 million were auctioned off.

This trend set off an interest in the NFT space and caused many artists to create their own pieces for the public. Apart from innovative pieces like Crypto Punks and Everyday’s “The First 5000 Days,” celebrities from various walks of life also released NFT collections. Although there are many celebrity NFTs on the market, we’ll be telling you about the top 10 celebrities who released theirs.

10 Stars That Created an NFT Collection

Many celebrities in the movie, music, sports, and entertainment spaces minted their own NFTS when the trend was strong. Many of these NFTs were minted to celebrate fans, while others were minted for money. Regardless, below are the 10 biggest celebrities that minted their own NFT collection.

1. Snoop Dogg

A Journey with the Dogg

Snoop Dogg is a big name in the music industry as a veteran rapper, and his NFT collection reflects that. His first NFT collection, “A Journey with the Dogg,” comprises early memories of the rapper’s journey in the music industry. A Journey with the Dogg only has 8 pieces available and also includes rare NFT tracks like “Diamond Joint” and “Snoop Doge Coins.”

This NFT drop lasted 48 hours, earning the rapper $100,000 for his efforts. However, it wasn’t just about the money for Snoop. Instead, it was about the determination to connect with fans and also explore society’s evolving technological space.

2. Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk

Veteran skater Tony Hawk also hopped on the NFT craze and created a tokenized video of the 540-degree Ollie. This isn’t the first time that the skater will be performing the trick, but it will be the last. The first time he performed this trick was in 1989.

The 540-degree Ollie video footage was displayed on the Eternity Chain. This clip was supposed to allow fans to compare the skater’s first performance of the trick with the last one. Nonetheless, a lucky fan would purchase it and become the owner of Tony Hawk’s last 540-degree Ollie performance.

3. Steve Aoki

DreamCatcher

Steve Aoki is a big name in the music space, as he is a renowned DJ in the electronic music genre. Perhaps his preferred genre of music influenced his love for innovative tech, as Steve owns many NFTs. As a collector, he owns NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), CryptoPunks, Mutant Apes, and The Doodles.

Nonetheless, Steve has also released a few NFT collections of his own. One is “Dream Catcher,” a collection created in partnership with 3D visual artist Antonio Tudisco. Dream Catcher also came with physical copies, selling for over $4 million.

Other collections from Steve include Neon Future, Dominion X, and Aok1 Verse. Steve loves NFT art as it offers him the opportunity to finally combine music, collectible culture, and art.

4. Steph Curry

Genesis Curry Flow

NFT lovers do not only exist in the music industry, as pro basketballer Steph Curry has also released quite a few. Steph released a virtual collection of 2,974 sneakers called the Genesis Curry Flow. Each of these sneakers comes with a price tag of $333.

People who purchased these sneakers could use them for their profile pictures or their metaverse avatars. These metaverse wearables could be used in Decentraland, Gala Games, and Sandbox.

Apart from his collectibles, Steph has also been an avid NFT collector. This can be seen from the BAYC NFTs that he owns.

5. Shawn Mendes

Wonder

This is another musician that has come to enjoy the NFT space, but unlike others, he does it for charity. Shawn joined hands with Genie to release a wide range of NFT wearables, like earrings, guitars, necklaces, and vests. This collection, known as “Wonder,” delivered proceeds of up to $600,000.

All these proceeds were funnelled into the Shawn Mendes Foundation Wonder Grants to power young activists. Shawn claims that “Wonder” won’t be the last of his foray into the NFT space. He plans to create more as his music career develops.

6. Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton NFT Collection

If there’s anyone who understands how pop culture and internet trends work, then it’s the Hilton Hotel Heiress. Paris Hilton didn’t miss out on the innovations that NFTs were going to bring to cyberspace. So, she collected a wide range of influential projects and engaged with other artists in the space before she released her collection.

The first collection that she released, “Planet Paris,” was released in collaboration with Blake Kathryn, a well-known crypto artist. Planet Paris offered 3D landscapes, portraits, and other colourful scenes. The success of her first collection prompted her to release more, like Paris: Past Lives, and New Beginnings.

7. Ozzy Osbourne

CryptoBatz by Ozzy Osbourne

The Prince of Darkness isn’t above the allure of the innovative world of NFTs, as he released “CryptoBatz”. This project was inspired by the events of the 1982 Black Sabbath performance, where he bit off a bat’s head on stage.

As such, each bat that an individual purchases can also bite off another NFT bat in the owner’s collection. Doing this allows the bat to spawn a “MutantBatz” NFT, which carries DNA traits from the earlier ones. There are 9,666 pixelated bets in total in the CryptoBatz project.

8. Rob Gronkowski

The Rob Gronkowski Championship Series NFT Collection

Gronk, the famous American football tight end and four-time NFL champion, released “The Rob Gronkowski Championship Series NFT Collection“. This NFT collection is a set of four digital trading cards that immortalise his championships. The four trading cards are acclaimed as having been personally hand-signed and numbered by the star himself.

There are 87 editions of each NFT card, each of which is unique and will never be replicated. The most valuable card in this set is a one-of-one NFT of the star’s career highlight.

9. Eminem

Shady Con by Eminem

“Slim Shady” Eminem is a famous rapper and a controversial figure in the music industry. He has been acclaimed as one of the greatest rappers of all time and boasts many awards for that.

Eminem is another collectible lover, and the NFT space provided the perfect market for him. He released “Shady Con“, which is a digital festival that allows fans to own a unique collectible. Included in Shady Con are some original instrumentals that were created before its release.

10. Lindsay Lohan

Lullaby nft by Lindsay Lohan

This pop icon symbol is also someone who praised the ability of NFTs to protect the copyright claims of art creators. She released an NFT of a single titled “Lullaby”, which came with an animated version of the singer along with butterflies. This collection was developed in collaboration with DJ Manuel Riva, and it was eventually auctioned for $85,000.

Conclusion

Celebrity NFT collections are a wave of NFT collections that took advantage of the NFT craze. Tech-savvy celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton were among the first to discover the beauty of NFTs.

While the NFT craze has calmed down, this doesn’t mean that we won’t be seeing any more of them. As Non-Fungible Tokens become more common, NFT collections from top celebrities will gradually become more common.
